my week in oklahoma

So a week ago me, mom, and dad left for Oklahoma to get things ready for my grandparents' 70th wedding anniversary. We actually got to Midwest City pretty quickly since dad drove the whole way. First thing after saying hey to the grandparents was go to the grocery store and get some snacks to last us the next few days and figure out some places to check for getting a cake, drinks, and flowers. I noticed right away that everyone drives like dad, shops like dad, and just acts like dad. Those crazy oklahomans. They just will never get out of your way in the grocery store and on the road! Or they are the opposite and completely in your way being totally rude.

Thursday...we went and ordered a cake from Sam's, scoped out some flowers for the party, ordered the food and took the back roads to Shawnee because dad wouldn't turn around. We were sneaking there to steal Laura's diploma since she never went to go get it. Only turns out we weren't so sneaky because we went to McAllister's afterwards and she was there with a bunch of friends. Oops! I think maybe the fact we were in public kept her from showing anger so maybe it was smart after all! My grandparents neighbor of several decades, John D, brought over two bags of fish ready to be fried that he had caught somewhere so we did that for dinner which was yummy.

Friday...we got up early and headed to the church to set up all the tables and figure out how we were going to make the slideshow work. It went pretty smoothly but took a few hours. So grateful the church let us do that. Friday afternoon Allison flew in and Laura came to Midwest City to go with us to pick her up at the airport. Grandma and Grandpa told us that "While you were gone we talked about it and decided you all should go out to eat and spend time as a family." Haha. So glad to have the permission. We ate at Old Chicago which was really really good. That night me and Allison checked into the Sheraton right behind Sooner Baptist Church and got our own really huge beds to sleep in which was amazing, especially with air-conditioning unlike a 58 year old house I had been in the last couple of nights.

Saturday...we woke up bright and early and went to Sam's with the parents to pick up the cake, get some great flowers and head to the church to finish setting things up. It all went smoothly except I kept forgetting my clothes and different things and kept having to walk back to the hotel and back to the church. I am glad it was within walking distance though, helped a ton. I think the place turned out looking great!

The party was fun...Allison and Laura got to meet Makenna for the first time and see Kailey for the first time in several months. We had around 53 people show up and Grandma and Grandpa had lots of fun.

I came home to enjoy my very last week of total freedom before my job starts on Monday, and so far its going well!
